Ingestible Capsule Intern
MATRIX Lab
Charlotte El-Khodary is a sophomore at the University of Maryland (UMD), currently majoring in Letters & Science and on the Computer Engineering major track. During her time at the MATRIX Lab, she’ll be working on the Ingestible Capsule Project under MATRIX Director of Remote Sensing and Microsystems Dr. Justin Stine, focusing on organizing and streamlining large-scale data collection. Her role is to develop a system for formatting and storing data efficiently, which may also benefit separate research projects of the university system.
As a MATRIX Lab intern, Charlotte hopes to gain hands-on research experience and learn how to contribute her skills effectively in a research environment. She was drawn to the MATRIX Lab because of its new, innovative, and interdisciplinary projects, and is excited to contribute to the facility’s cutting-edge work as well as learn under the guidance of the experienced mentors of the lab.
Charlotte’s experience includes programming (Java, C, HTML/CSS), basic circuit design, and soldering. The combination of her interests led her toward computer engineering. Next year, she plans to apply to UMD’s Clark School of Engineering and formally declare a major in Computer Engineering. She’s excited to explore career paths in technology and research.
