The University of Maryland MATRIX Lab is building a catalog of short courses featuring cutting-edge technology. Courses are offered at the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland (USMSM) campus in St. Mary’s County. The campus, home to the UMD MATRIX Lab and the USMSM SMART Building, is located at 44219 Airport Road, California, MD 20619.

Applicants wishing to take part in a short course must apply for admission. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for scheduled courses, but all have a best consideration date.

Course fees vary by course and must be paid in advance to secure your opportunity to participate. Course fees include meals and beverages but do not cover lodging. The A. James Clark School of Engineering reserves the right to cancel an applicant's admission unless payment is received three weeks after entry into the short course.

There are no scholarships available for short courses.

Submitting an application for a short course does not guarantee you a spot in a course. Your spot is secured only at the time of successful payment of the course fee. The following refund schedule applies if you choose to drop from the course after the University of Maryland successfully processes your payment:

Business Days (Monday to Friday) Before Start Refund Due
Ten (10) or more days 100%
Five (5) to nine (9) days 50%
One (1) to four (4) days 25%
First day of course 0%

The University of Maryland reserves the right to cancel the short course due to insufficient enrollment or for unanticipated events. Should this happen, those enrolled will receive 100% refunds.

Failure to attend the short course does not entitle enrollees to a refund. All refund requests are subject to the terms noted in the Cancellations and Refunds section.
