Microelectronics Lab

Lab equipment includes:

  • Computers with Linux for controlling drones and operating machine learning and artificial intelligence processes
  • Precision power amplifiers and power supplies for controlling piezoelectric materials by applying a voltage to make them mechanically expand or contract
  • Function generators for generating electrical signals with set properties of amplitude, frequency, and wave shape
  • Oscilloscopes for viewing both DC and AC waveforms and measuring their characteristics (such as amplitude for both DC and AC signals and frequency or period for AC signals)
  • Multimeters for measuring the output of the power supply in two or more electrical values, principally voltage (volts), current (amps), and resistance (ohms)
  • Agilent Fieldfox Microwave Analyzer for capturing small, interfering signals with analysis and performing measurements
  • Intronix Logic Analyzers for capturing and displaying multiple signals from a digital system or digital circuit and verifying and debugging digital systems
  • Solar Simulator for emitting light mimicking natural sunlight to provide a controllable indoor test facility under laboratory conditions
  • Quanser Rotary Inverted Pendulum Module and Rotary Servo Bases for teaching mechatronics and controls topics, including how to model and control a pendulum
