Rolan Pichler is the MATRIX Research Lab Manager for the University of Maryland Clark School of Engineering at the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland (USMSM). In the position, he supports researchers by efficiently managing equipment and processes while ensuring a safe and compliant lab environment. His goals include streamlining lab operations, improving efficiency, and ensuring smooth coordination of resources.
Before this, Rolan worked as a Research Engineer for a defense contractor, developing embedded systems and integrating them across multiple platforms. He also maintained signal integrity, synchronized time-critical processes, and ensured system reliability in mission-critical, resource-constrained environments. This experience strengthened his skills in technical management and process optimization. He was drawn to the MATRIX's Lab Manager position because of the University of Maryland's strong research reputation. The role provides the opportunity to apply his skills in lab management while contributing to innovative research and supporting faculty and students in achieving their research goals.
Rolan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland. Additionally, he is pursuing certifications in areas such as project management, lab safety, and data analysis to further enhance his skills in lab management and research support.
